The National Firefighter Corps is an operational and administrative extension of the Department of Firefighters, Public Assistance and Civil Defence of the Ministry of the Interior of the Italian Republic, through which the institutional tasks provided for by the law are carried out.
Among the skills of firefighters, there are essentially the prevention and the contrast of fires, but often they are extended to search and rescue activities, civil defence and protection of historical assets. artistic and cultural, depending on the context in which they operate.
Firefighters, due to their activities, are continually exposed to various risks. In the framework of their task to combat fires, four particular groups of risks have been defined based on the intervention carried out, i.e. those deriving from heat, those deriving from the fumes, those that are a consequence of the characteristics of the places involved and, finally, those that are a consequence of the typical load of the activity carried out.
